Stanley Arthur King

Stanley was born in Ipswich in 1894.  Son of Alfred King and Ethel Rose nee Woolner.  In 1901 they lived 274 Stoke Street Ipswich, he had a sister - Winifred Ethel (2 years older) and two brothers Alfred George (2 years younger) and Sidney (4 years younger).  By 1911 they had moved to 1 Gainsborough Terrace, Gainsborough  Road Felixstowe (now number 89). His father was a carpenter and worked in the town as a builder.  By 1917 they had moved to 56 Constable Rd., Felixstowe. His younger sister Dorothy married Reginald P A G Thurlow the eldest son of Alfred Edward Thurlow who is also commemorated at Tyne Cot. 

 

Stanley served in 4th Battalion The Suffolk Regiment and is commemorated on his parent's headstone in St Peter and Pauls church Felixstowe and on the Tyne Cot Memorial and is thought to have died during the Battle of Polygon Wood on 26 Sept 1917, aged 21.
