Born 24th April 1909 in Walton, youngest of four children of Albert Edward Westwood and (Amy) Margaret nee Brown. In 1939 the family were living at 1 St. Andrews Road, Felixstowe with John working as a Chemist's warehouseman.
Private Westwood was reported missing in Malaya 15th February 1942, he was later reported to be a prisoner of war. He died of Beri Beri & Dysentry on the 31st August 1943 and is buried at Kanchanaburi War Cemetery.
