AB P/JX 382851 R.N. HMS Bluebell 17th February 1945.

 

Born 15th February 1921, older son of George Day & Ada Millicent nee Cross. His younger brother Lionel was born in 1931. In 1939 the family were living at 6 Grange Road, Felixstowe.

HMS Bluebell was torpedoed and sunk by German Submarine U-711 on the 17th February 1945 off the Kola Inlet (Russia) with a loss of 91 lives. Commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.
