Born in 1922 in Felixstowe, younger of two sons of Charles Edward Thorpe and Grace Florence nee Tebbitt. In 1939 the family were living at 33 Queens Road, Felixstowe.

 

Douglas followed his father into the Royal Horse Artillery. Buried at the Tripoli War Cemetery.
