Second Lieutenant, 1st Battalion, Coldstream Guards. Died 22/12/1914. Age 25.

 

Born 11 April 1889 in Melton. Son of the Hon Douglas Alfred Tollemache of South Beach Felixstowe, JP of Suffolk, Partner in Cobbolds Bank, MD of Tollemache’s Breweries Ltd.  Mother Alice May nee Head. Bevil was the eldest of five children, his younger brother Humphrey Douglas had an extensive career in the Royal Navy.

 

Joined Coldstream Guards 15 Aug 1914 and sent to France in Oct 14, killed during the Battle of Givenchy on the morning of 22 Dec 1914. Commemorated on Le Touret Memorial
