Corporal 900839, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Died 06/03/1942. Age 24.

 

Born in Ipswich in 1918 the eldest son of Ashford William Eve and Annie Laura nee Scott. In 1939 the family were living at 9 West End View, Langer Road, Felixstowe with Ashford senior working as a millwright and joiner.

 

Ashford was Killed/Died during the evacuation of Tjilatjap, either during the ambush of evacuating train, blowing up of bridge or massacre of wounded airmen by Japanese.Commemorated on the Singapore Memorial
